Skyler White is a stay-at-home mom who sells household items on eBay to make ends meet. Married to Walt for nearly twenty years, she's expecting their second child and is also working on a collection of short stories. She becomes his staunch advocate after learning he has cancer, researching conventional and alternative cures and convincing him to undergo chemotherapy.
She takes Walt's being more sexual of late as a good sign in his cancer fight, and she's encouraged when he volunteers to visit a Navajo sweat lodge. Relations with her sister, though, quickly deteriorate after Marie gives Skyler a wildly expensive baby tiara as a shower gift. When Skyler returns it to a jewelry store, she's informed the item was stolen; only by faking labor does she avoid being arrested. Marie refuses to admit swiping the tiara.
Walt surprises Skyler when she recounts the tiara incident to him. He says that people "sometimes do things for their families" and asks what she'd do if he did something similar.
"You don't want to find out," she warns him.
